Thank you all for your support during the launch of Flicker of the Flame. We had several good days of sales, and it couldn’t have happened without you. An fervent thank you to those of you who told me how much you enjoyed the story and the world I built for it.
And if feel so inclined, I’d be ever so grateful if you’d leave a review on Amazon, Book Bub, or wherever you like.
How Do You Build a World?
Many of my readers have asked about the world of Tlefas and how I created it. Not too long ago, I wrote a guest post for fantasy author Antonio Roberts. Stop by his blog to find out some of my worldbuilding tricks.
What I’ve Been Writing
I’m approaching the halfway point of the third revision of Flare of Power, the third book in the series. And I’ve started the second draft of Flood of Fire, the conclusion. Actually, it’s more like a complete rewrite. I’m keeping the overall story line, but only about 15% of the original scenes are going to stay. My plan is to release Flare of Power later this year, and Flood of Fire next spring.
What I’ve Been Reading
I went back to the Mistborn series and continued with the second book, Well of Ascension. Twenty pages in I realized I’d read it years ago. But that didn’t stop me. It’s still a fun and engaging story written by a worldbuilding master, even the second time around.
Years ago I read Republic of Thieves, the third in the Gentlemen Bastards series by Scott Lynch. So I thought it was high time I went back and read the first book, The Lies of Locke Lamora. This is another fabulous piece of worldbuilding with a story full of twists and turns and very memorable characters.
What I Am Looking Forward to Reading

Next week will be the release of B. O’ree Williams debut novel, Beyond the Horizon Line. This sci-fi novel is set in the not too distant future and tells the story of a world-reknown scientist who realizes he’s on the cusp of making neural uploading a reality. The novel launches on March 15, but you can preorder it here. This is one book I’m really excited to read.
