The season between Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year is a busy one. When I’m not wrapping gifts or baking cookies, I managed to get in some writing. And reading. Here’s what I’ve been up to.
What I’ve Been Writing
I’m thrilled to report that I finished the rewrite of Sting of Power. That’s the heavy lifting of writing a novel, getting the bones of the story right. Now it’s on to the slow part, the careful rewrites to make sure the plot has no holes and the characters come to life.
Flicker of the Flame is back from the editor, so I’m starting the final round of rewrites. I’m happy to say I’m still on track for a launch in February.
What I’ve Been Reading
Rebeka Jager’s debut novel Unholy Warrior is billed as a post-apocalyptic spy thriller, and it lives up to its name. Second Lieutenant Rebane Nordstrom, a sniper in the ranks of a Russian elite reconnaissance unit, doesn’t know how to give up…ever. After someone assassinates the president of the European Union, the EU forces capture her and her lover. He soon disappears, but Rebane has no time for grief. She’s pursued by an enemy commander and is forced to flee for her life across the frozen arctic. Along the way she makes some surprising alliances that will keep you reading late into the night.
