The Miracle of Small Flat Squares

Have You Heard of the Miraculous Small Flat Squares?

“What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet or excite you.” — Anne Lamott, author of Bird by Bird

Isn’t a miracle that words on paper (or electronic screens) can have such an impact on our lives? I suppose that why we all read, to be swept up on a journey we’d never be able take in real life, or to experience life through another’s eyes.

And to look at the world in a different way. Just like I never thought about the squares formed by a wire fence. Before I read that quote, I never thought of the pages of a book quite like that.

And never will again.

In other news, I was a guest on the Unstoppable Authors podcast last week, talking about how I keep all my worldbuilding and characters organized. Take a listen, and please let me know what you think!
