We’ve all seen (or perhaps participated in) political or domestic debates.
I’m in the middle of one of my own.
The Great Title Debate
What should I call the third book in the Outlawed Myth series? I just can’t figure this one out. And I need to decide soon, since I’m planning on launching the book in December. This December.
The other titles came together easily, once I had the first one nailed down.
Book One: Flight of the Spark
Book Two: Flicker of the Flame
Book Three: ????
Book Four: Flood of Fire
My working title for Book Three has been Sting of Power. I know, it doesn’t really fit with the others.
But some of the early readers thought it captures the book perfectly.
I’ve been toying with a few other ideas:
Flare of Power
Flash of Power
So what do you think?
Door Number 1: Sting of Power
Door Number 2: Flare of Power
Door Number 3: Flash of Power
Or Door Number 4: Something else
I’d really love to know which title would make you the most curious about the book.
Let me know your opinion in the comments! I’ll really appreciate it.
Hi Evelynn,
Great question. May I enter the debate? I like how you stick with similar-sounding titles. For me, it shows consistency in the sequels. Still, my choice would be Sting of Power because it’s intriguing and not too different from the others. The only words with F I came up with are Face of Power or Fable of Power?
I admire your work.
Bravo,
Diane
Diane,
Thank you for joining the debate. I’m getting the sense that a lot (but not all) seem to like the word “sting.” My editor just suggested Sting of the Scorpion. (Scorpion amulets play a big role in the book.) What do you think of that?
Best,
Evelyn
