In case you were wondering where I am with Game of Lies, I’ve got some news for you.
In a day or so, I’ll be sending it to my editor. While I’d originally planned to finish this prequel novella to Flight of the Spark in March, moving in the midst of the pandemic disrupted that plan.
But now that project is moving along, and I’m looking at a publication date later this summer.
What I’ve Been Writing
Other than finishing up Game of Lies, I’ve made steady progress on Flicker of the Flame. If all goes well, it will be ready for editing this fall.
What I’ve Been Reading
The Tinkerer’s Daughter by Jamie Sedgwick is a fun steampunk fantasy. Breeze, a young elven girl, is left in the care of an old and eccentric tinkerer. As war looms on the horizon, she learns to harness her abilities and work to reconcile old enemies.
For a change from YA fantasy, I picked up The Earth is the Lord’s, a sweeping historical novel about Genghis Khan. While I’m only a few pages in, I can already tell this is one of Taylor Caldwell’s best. I’m thinking I can get some great worldbuilding ideas for the third novel in the Outlawed Myth series.
What have you been reading this summer? Tell us about it in the comments.
